I'm officially geeky!

I've had rotated front tooth for ages. I've tried various methods..such as..manually rotating it with my fingers, went for the groupon deal for the invisible braces (which it was so badly rotated that I'm not eligible!) Anyway, on 03/10/11, the wait has finally ended. I got my fixed metallic braces. As always, I was quite anxious about the visit to the dentist. I brushed and flossed my teeth much more often and diligently than usual.

My dentist is awesome. He's so funny..This morning, he put an instrument which he called 'torture devices' to open up my mouth and started chatting to me about the funny/embarrassing stories about consultants getting drunk..and it was so difficult to laugh with my cheek retracted. Anyway, the visit was not at all unpleasant. After the braces were fixed, he asked me what colour of elastics I would like. I was so excited. I didn't know that an adult would have the luxury to choose the colours they would like. Greedy as I am, I said RAINBOW! So now I have yellow, red, green, blue elastics over my braces. I am so totally not pulling it off...My kind dentist also gave me a 'welcome pack' which consist of a tiny toothbrush, mouthwash, wax and instructions to taking care of braces. Free stuff's always the best!

He also gave clear instructions and stuffs to expect. For example, the fact that I would experience pain ranging from the scale of 1 out of 10 up to 9 within 8 hours after treatment. And paracetamol would be the best to deal with such pain. Even went through the trouble of explaining why we would have pain..all I heard were keys words like phospolipid, prostaglandin..bla bla bla. Then osteoclast, osteoblast, fibres..bla bla bla.

I totally feel like a metallic dinasour *ROAR*

I hear stories about people having braces losing weight due to the pain. I don't foresee myself losing any weight. I felt SUPER hungry after and couldn't stop eating the entire day. What pain? I'm not entirely sure if I'm feeling is considered pain. It's just discomfort. Literally like wearing a hat. I know it's there but it's not causing me too much trouble. It's probably a matter of easing into something new. Like wearing a new jewellery.

I wonder if it's the same for others, but I can't stop looking at myself in the mirror and giving myself huge smiles..and getting slightly freaked out everytime! Can't wait to freak my friends out!!!

HIV test

Just a couple of weeks ago, I got a letter from occupational health to go for HIV and Hep C blood tests. Mind you, I'm not in the high-risk group, it's for my job application. Nonetheless, I was quite excited about it.

The test was done in Victoria Infirmary about 30-40minutes bus ride away. I took the effort to ask for the day off and went early for the test thinking that it will probably take at least half a day for it to be done. I was expecting a proper HIV pre-test discussion bout confidentiality, HIV and how it is transmitted, the treatment options if I happened to be positive, the 3-month window period..blablabla. Nope..nada..nothing at all..

Went in, 'forced' to sign a consent paper, "SHARP SCATCH", bled, bye!
All the crap the medical school told us bout giving pre-test counseling..I feel so cheated!
I want my pre-test counseling!!!!

Btw, the "SHARP SCATCH" was bloody sharp! I was trying real hard not to cry. Am now more aware of how painful and traumatizing it is to be bled. Empathy! lol

I love my mummy!

I screwed up a lot when I was growing up.
Even now, in my mid-twenties..I still screw up every now and then.

I made a mistake of forgetting to book my flight tickets from KL to Sibu. So I was kinda stucked in KL after arriving from Dubai from Manchester from Glasgow. It was the Gawai period so all the flights were booked to the max! There was no way I was able to book last minute.

I tried every airline companies possible..Tiger Airways, Fireflyz, Malaysia Airlines and Airasia..NOTHING! I even tried different destinations; Kuching/Bintulu/Miri. None as well! I was so desperate!

I was so afraid of telling my parents because I know it was MY mistake that I forgot! My mum reminded me time and time again to book it. Finally when I told her, she didn't even scold me. In fact, she said she knew how busy I was that I forgot to book the ticket. I was kinda expecting some scolding because I knew I deserved them! I am grateful for such a wonderful mum!

Funny thing, all the flights were delayed because of the volcanic ash from Iceland. Was so unsure if I could go back. If I had booked earlier, I won't be able to cancel..and will probably end up booking another flight as well. Although I must admit that I was really stressed the uncertainty of getting a ticket last minute...but I think I might be more stress bout losing money missing the flight and then booking another flight again. There must be some higher power at work here! Thank God! It is better to trust God.

Here I am in the Golden Lounge eating good food and chillaxing waiting for my flight.

Horror films

REC Movie Trailer

I'm not a fan of horror films. But Victor enticed me to watch this. He kept saying that his balls shrank just watching it. I'm curious!!!!

I've finished downloading it. I'm having palpitations just planning to watch it!
Ok, first things first.
1. Empty bladder + bowel *Don't wanna pee my pants or have an accident during the movie*
2. Watch during daylight *I'm just too chicken to watch it at night*
3. Blanket *Nothing is more scary that watching a movie ALONE in a COLD room*
4. Forewarn your flatmates or anyone of hearing distance "I'm watching a horror film!" *Don't want people rushing in after you scream right?*

With that, I guess I'm ready~
Wish me luck!

Caffeine dependency

Characteristics of dependency
1. Suffer physical withdrawal effects (check)
2. Increasing tolerance (check)
3. Compulsion or craving to take the substance (check)
4. Continued used of substance despite known harmful effects (check)
5. Time dominated to taking or acquiring the substance (?check..it doesn't take too long to acquire caffeine?)
6. Other aspects of life are neglected at the expense of the substance (not really?)
7. Reinstatement after a period of abstinence (never had a period of abstinence)

I think I have caffeine dependency. Just noticed that I'm suffering from some withdrawal symptoms from not taking caffeine especially in the morning after waking up.
Been downing whatever caffeine I can find..even considered caffeine tablets. I'm not a coffee person, so I had to look for alternatives; tea*lots and lots of them*, apples, chocolates*my favourite source of caffeine*, coca-cola, energy drinks...Suggestions welcomed~

I find green tea works a tiny bit better than jasmine tea. hmm...I might be wrong?
I was once told by Fiona that the tea bags release more caffeine with each use. Meaning, use the same tea bag for a couple of times. Well, she's a really smart pharmacist. However, if the fact is not true, it'll still keep you awake cause you'll keep going to the toilet. win-win!

Been having chocolates for breakfast. Actually, been doing that for years!lol~chocolates and bananas..best combo!awesome~

Been eating lots of walnuts as well. They look like brains..hehe!

Not that it's proven to be brain-food. Placebo effect works well with me~Not forgetting my ginkgo biloba tablets as well.

My life has been taken over by my FINALS! Fingers crossed that it'll really be my final exam..Just wanna pass smoothly~

I deactivated my facebook since Christmas to lessen the distractions (just in case anyone thought that I block them on facebook) , hence the sudden increase in blog posts. Funny how you try to remove one distraction and others keep popping up or are just there to tempt you~

Written papers are this coming Thursday and Friday~
Remember me in your prayers~Please and Thank you!

Telephone operators

Recently I made a mistake on my flight details for FlyEmirates. But I managed to settle everything by just calling up the main office.

Previously, my flatmate had a VERY stressful period dealing with the phone operators so I wasn't keen on calling up, even insisted of going down to the main office to settle everything face-to-face. But a combination of Glasgow's 'awesome' weather and my lazy bum, I just decided to make a simple call.

I was pleasantly surprised when my phone operator was very nice, polite and efficient. Got everything settled..Easy peasy. Should have asked for his name and maybe put in a good word for him.
*It was so casual that I even shamelessly asked if there's any 'special' discount he can give. LOL*

Speaking of phone operators, I was wondering...maybe 7 out of 10 times, the phone operators are indians?

I've never heard someone with a chinese accent over the other line. Will be cool to hear someone really chinese one day~maybe even continue the conversation in mandarin or cantonese.

But it's true that indians are much faster at learning new languages as compared to other races. Maybe because Hindi, Tamil...are so difficult to begin with.

I love learning different languages. Only 3 phrases are important to master a particular language;
1. Hi! How are you?
2. Thank you
3. *Swearing words*

I haven't watch the movie yet..but am warned that the acting is terrible.
