Dr House

I'm currently having my Radiology Student Selected Component/Module (SSC/SSM) in Royal Infimary.

It is absolutely AWESOME!!! But there were boring times as well; sitting in the dark rooms looking at scans, being shooted with questions, dozing off...making my partner nervous that he has to answer all the questions! LOL *honestly, can't really blame me, it's after lunch and the chair was really comfortable..and it's a DARK ROOM!* So sorry partner!!!hehehe...



We got to see billions of X-ray (so much that I'm kinda sick of them), carotid ultrasound/doppler, MRI, CT scan(can finally tell the diff between CT and MRI), BRONCHIAL STENTING*totally awesome*, bile drainage...........




This morning, we focused on Magnetic Resonance for the heart, so that's how we found out bout TAKOTSUBO! Anyway, the radiographer gave us a penny each and made us swear never to let go of the penny..then brought us into the MRI room. OMG...really felt the penny being pulled towards the machine! I'm sorry that I'm so SOHAI but I was so excited!!!




Anyway..what I really wanted to post bout..is my 'beloved' consultant! I think he is the 'god' for radiology. His eyes have in-built magnifying glass..em..more like microscope..and he made me feel like I'm colour blind! How can you tell dark grey from darker grey? He never stops impressing me and my partner how powerful he is!



But there's a downside...he's SO sarcastic! His facial expression never changes..permanently stuck with the serious look. He made such sarcastic comments/jokes that I have no idea how to react. He's just like Dr House. The health workers in the department has this love-hate relationship with him. They can't live with or without him! PLUS, he walks so bloody fast, I'm constantly running behind him!



Today, one of the radiographer told us that he's one of the LEGENDS in medicine. He understands the in and out of radiology, bout how the scans works and stuff...in fact, he's the only radiologist who's able to do that! Even the breast specialist radiologist had to consult him! I googled him up and he happened to have written some health guidelines. I mean..not in a million years I would dream that I'll meet a legend let along be under him!

It's been awesome so far...can't wait for more CHAing from the consultant!

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy

This is gonna sound so geeky, but today I just found out bout the coolest disease ever...TAKOTSUBO! Today one of the patients came in with suspected TAKOTSUBO cardiomyopathy! *I just love saying the name*


It means octopus trap in Japanese.



It's otherwise known as stress cardiomyopathy or broken heart syndrome.
So cool right?



There's basically ballooning of the apical part. Might lead to congestive heart failure! According to my consultant, basically the imaging will show dilation of the heart but the myocardium is not damaged. Transient and reversible..but if in severe cases..might get worse!



TAKOTSUBO usually happens in patient whose long time spouse passed away in their old age. Mostly postmenopausal women are affected. So they are literally broken hearted~



So my friends out there..who are feeling stress/sad/broken hearted...cheer up! There's more to life!!! Fight TAKOTSUBO!

American Idol Finale

I'm crossing my fingers that Kris Allen wins American Idol 8 tonight. Not that I'm in LOVE with him..it's just the fact that I don't want Adam Lambert to win~hehe...

Think bout it...would you buy a record of a guy who's screaming most of the time in a song?who cares if he has a high range? Guys are suppose to have deep sexy voice..not high gayish voice!?! Don't be cheated by his charm (if any?) I don't get how some girls can go GAGA over him? *yes you ching li and stephanie!* hahahaha...

Kris Allen was not my favourite..but he kinda grows on you.



Look at how his mouth is senget when he sings~LOL

His songs are the type which you can listen to before you sleep, when you're studying, when you're walking on the streets..or just plain chilling out with friends.

Imagine I'm trying to relax/chill then I put on Adam Lambert's music..gonna be more stress man! Not denying his talent, or his legendary 'high range'...but you have no idea how many times I 'CHEH' when he's on in AI!

Apologize to all the girls out there who's in love with him. I'm having my exams tomorrow. Kinda stress..Need to get the truth out there..sorry to burst your bubble as well..he won't like you..coz he only like guys!
